Knowledge Catalyst
From Critical Practice Chelsea
Critical Practice and the New Economics Foundation are developing a project suited to the AHRC Knowledge Catalyst scheme. Following a meeting 30/5/08 the partnership will work with the University of Arts London business liaison to propose a toolkit intended for communities seeking to implement a post-carbon economic strategy.
Early discussion has indicated common interest in issues of governance, ethics, social enterprise, cultural production and craft.
The AHRC Knowledge Catalyst Scheme
Since October 2005 the AHRC have sponsored Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and wanted to support smaller organisations for which the KTP programme may not be accessible because of the cost and length of partnerships that KTP supports. The Knowledge Catalyst scheme is intended to complement the AHRC’s sponsorship of KTPs and is not intended to support projects which would usually be supported through its sponsorship of the KTP scheme.
The Knowledge Catalyst scheme has two aims:
- To exploit the research base in the arts and humanities for commercial and/or cultural gain
- To make such activities accessible to organisations for whom the Department of Trade and Industry’s KTP scheme is not appropriate.
Critical Practice was introduced to the Knowledge Catalyst scheme by the University of Arts London business liaison. Details can be found here on Critical Practice old wiki.
